Righto, not necessarily the correct way to do it, but:
- Buy some car spring compressors. $20
- Undo the top shock absorber bolt. The big one in the middle.
- Jack up the car and undo the brake line
- Undo the 2 bolts that join the strut to the lower ball joint/steering arm
- Undo the three bolts on the top of the shock tower
- Pull out the strut and the spring (which will be separated by now)
- Angle grind 1 and a half coils off for "a meaner stance", 2 coils to say "I'm low" and 2 and a half coils to say "I'm low and I'm bad"
- Use the coil spring compressor to clamp the spring down till its small enough to put the top bolt of the shock absorper back on (and thus the strut back together)
- Put the struts back in place, join up the brakes and then bleed them.
- Go for a drive to "settle" the springs and stop, jump out and smile.
- Realise that its too low and roll the guards on the front. Don't be afraid, beat it hard with a hammer. You are going to lose paint on the inside regardless of how gentle you are :)
